RV Park Host - January to April Staff Guidelines Application Volunteer Staff Positions: DORM PARENTS & ASSISTANT DORM PARENTS: Tend to children’s needs in the dorm. Dorm parents see that the children are clean and get to meals and classes on time, teach them personal hygiene, oversee cleanliness of dorm areas, and plan work program. Help with their homework and spiritual upbringing. The dorm parents sleep in the dorm at night. SCHOOL PRINCIPAL: Oversees teachers and curriculum. Schedules all INEA testing for the students and is responsible for decision making and discipline issues within the school. TEACHERS: Teach sign language and various subjects in the classroom according to the grade level. They also coordinate annual events such as the Art Contest, Math Month, and the Spelling Bee, as well as organize activities for special Mexican holidays. A typical classroom has 6-8 students. Some knowledge of written Spanish is necessary. TEACHER’S ASSISTANT: Assist the teacher in the classroom. The duties would vary depending on the grade level, but can be suitable for someone who is still learning sign language and/or Spanish. This position may also include one-on-one tutoring with students who need individual attention. LAUNDRY ROOM/CLOTHING ROOM: The warm, breezy weather in Mexico lends itself perfectly to line drying clothes. This important job is also very enjoyable if you enjoy being outside and if you enjoy organizing things. The duties include, sorting, washing, and hanging to dry the children’s clothes and linens, making sure children and staff pick up laundry in a timely manner and return it to the proper housing unit. It also includes sorting through donated clothing, folding and shelving good clothing and keeping clothing rooms organized. It would also include watching for clothing that needs repair and alerting someone who can mend, patch, etc. This can be for a shorter term than 9 months. Please contact us with your availability. DIRECTOR’S ASSISTANT: Responsible for all correspondence from the Director. Makes up calendars, sends RSM Newsletters, updates Ranch needs list, takes minutes at all staff meetings, maintains website, and other various office duties. Should have a basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and Publisher. Depending on ability and desire, may give Ranch tours and help with visiting church groups. GROUP COORDINATOR: Works closely with the Director to plan projects for the short term teams that visit the Ranch. A typical school year has approximately 50 short term teams. It is not necessary to know how to do each construction trade, but it is important to have good people skills since we have over 1000 visitors each year. FACILITY MAINTENANCE: Maintains all buildings and the cleanliness of the property and assists the staff with repairs and handyman jobs. RV PARK HOST: Oversees the Rancho Sordo Mudo RV Park. Greets all guests and collects donations for the use of the Park. This position can be for the winter months only: January to April.
